Artist Statement

After picking up her dad’s camera at the age of twelve, Rachael Short has yet to set it down. Photography became a passion at a young age and it continues with her today. Rachael grew up in Carmel Valley, CA and was influenced by the legacy of great photographers from the Monterey Peninsula. She studied at Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, CA, and returned to Carmel in 2004. In 2009 she opened EXPOSED, a photography gallery in Carmel with a fellow photographer. Her recent project consists of large-format nudes, shot with Polaroid 55 and contact printed. She currently resides in Big Sur.
