Members' Night - Movie Night
September 22, 2011, 6:30 - 9:00pm
CPA Gallery

There was standing room only at CPA’s fourth Members’ Night, which was held on Thursday evening, September 22nd! It was movie night in the CPA gallery. The evening started with the world premier of the CPA video made by the workshop participants in the recent Two-Day Video Boot Camp instructed by Richard Newman. At the conclusion of the four-minute video cheers and loud applause broke out in the audience. What a great way to start the evening!

Three films were then shown - one about Ansel Adams and two about Edward Weston. After the Adams movie, a panel comprised of Anne Helms (Adams’ daughter), Michael Adams (Adams’ son) and John Sexton (long time assistant to Adams) answered questions from the audience and spoke of some of their personal experiences with the famous photographer. Special thanks go to Bob Kolbrener for organizing such an interesting first hour.

The second hour was comprised of viewing the two films about Edward Weston after which Jack Wasserbach shared his personal story and described how Edward Weston has affected his life and his photography. Jack coaxed Richard Garrod (the only person in the audience that evening who knew Edward Weston), to share with those gathered an amusing story about an Edward Weston portfolio. In addition to enjoying popcorn, members also participated in free drawings throughout the evening for various prizes including the films that were shown.
